Smart cities go global in Taipei

Trevor Dorling (RBG/DG) recently attended the 2018 Smart City Expo and Mayor’s Summit hosted annually by the City of Taipei in Taiwan and the Taipei Computer Association. This global smart city event, the largest held in Asia, was attended by leaders, mayors and senior officials from over 120 cities. The event was held in Taipei 27–30 March. RBG/DG presented at the main Mayors summit and the launch of a new Global Organisation for SMART Cities, on its smart city work which included Greenwich’s work on CAV (including Maven & GATEway) and integrated smart city development (Sharing Cities).

The UK Department for International Trade (DiT) led a business delegation. DG Cities, TRL, SMLL:L & Westfield sent representatives and were showcased on the DIT stand in the main expo (which included a cut-out of the GATEway Pod).

In addition, DiT hosted a Taiwan- UK Smart Cities Forum on 28 March, which focused on CAV developments in the UK and Taiwan. Speakers at the Forum included, Richard Cuerden (Keynote on CAV developments in the UK which included the CAV testbeds and Gateway programme); Trevor Dorling (Greenwich’s work on CAV and City Integration, GATEway, Maven, MOVE UK and Merge); Balazs Csuvar (SMLL:L UK CAV Test Bed) and Tom Williams (GATEway).
