Smart City Assets - Purpose & Definition

The world faces unprecedented rates of urban expansion, resulting in cities facing new challenges and undergoing significant transformation. Given those needs, “Smart City” approaches are often mentioned as one of the ways to build resilient, inclusive and sustainable communities.

The purpose of this questionnaire is to understand how cities finance their Smart City projects. It will allow researchers to learn more about the various elements of the business model i.e. revenue streams, funding sources and operational methods. The results can then be used to help project directors and funding bodies identify common practices and benchmarks to guide future investment plans.

A “Smart City” would be an environment in which all available resources (financial capital, infrastructure, communications, skills, etc.) are mobilised towards providing more efficient services to resident people and businesses, ultimately benefitting the quality of life for citizens.

The survey consists of 24 easy-to-answer questions and it will take around 10 minutes to complete.

Your responses to the survey will be kept confidential and only presented in an aggregated format.
