The Materials, Technologies and People of Smart Cities at Milan Design Week

Milan, a Sharing Cities lighthouse city, will be hosting the Milan Design Week  from 17 to 22 April, the most awaited international event for professionals within the sector attracting more than 300,000 visitors form over 165 foreign countries and 5,000 journalists from all over the world. At the same time a lot of events, installations and exibitions will animate the town through Fuorisalone.

Sharing Cities will take part to one of these events: the exhibition "Smart City: Materials, Technologies & People" designed and organized by Material ConneXion Italia. Ideal follow-up of 2017 “New Materials for a Smart City”, the exhibition is located in Via Tortona at Superstudio Più and offers an overview from a materials perspective, on the new frontiers of innovation in advanced technologies for urban planning and the building of a smart city. It also introduces material solutions and technologies in different fields such as:

  • Advanced Building and Infrastructures;
  • Sustainable and Circular City;
  • Smart Living, Smart People;
  • Connected City;
  • Integrated Mobility;
  • Food Policies and Urban Agriculture.

‘Smart City: Materials, Technologies & People’ will be open from 17th April until 12th May. 


Within the wide programme Sharing Cities will be present with in two events:

  • "Sharing Cities - Build the future of Smart Cities": during which will be discussed Project results and new steps
  • "What's Next" which will open a reflaction on the Future of Urban Development through Smart, resilient and Circular City approach", in which Nathan Pierce, programme director of Sharing Cities, will participate
