Meeting to meet cities’ needs - European Innovation Partnership AGM and Sharing Cities Technical Meeting

25/06/2018 - 28/06/2018

June is set to be a busy month for Sharing Cities, with the 2018 General Assembly of the European Innovation Partnership for Smart Cities & Communities (EIP-SCC) on 27-28 June in Sofia, and the Sharing Cities Technical Meeting on 25-28 June in Burgas.

On 27 June, the EIP-SCC will host workshops for the follower cities of the 12 lighthouse projects. Sharing Cities’ Bernadett Köteles-Degrendele, in her role as chair of the EIP-SCC action cluster ‘Business models, financing and procurement’, and as co-chair of the SCC01 lighthouse projects’ replication task group, will host a workshop on the needs of follower cities.

This workshop will explore the barriers that follower cities, or ‘fellow’ cities, as they are known within the Sharing Cities programme, come up against in trying to replicate practices piloted in the lighthouse cities’ demonstration sights, as well as their implementation priorities. Mrs Köteles-Degrendele will present on enabling replication in different projects and creating a positive impact that makes cities smarter.

More information about the EIP-SCC event can be found here.

Meanwhile, the Sharing Cities Technical Meeting of Work Package 3 (WP3) – ‘Place’ will be investigating its interdependencies with other WPs in order to foster a more holistic approach; having an event that focusses on scale up and replication, to allow successful measures to take root across Europe; and will formalise the plans for the remainder of the year.
