Lighthouse projects with Bulgarian partner cities join forces and exchange on practices in Sofia

11/07/2017 - 12/07/2017 (Sofia)

On 11-12 July 2017, the Bulgarian capital, Sofia, will play host to a workshop on integrated strategies for Smart Cities & Communities (SSC1) follower cities.
All four lighthouse projects with Bulgarian follower cities have joint forces with the lead of Smarter Together and Sharing Cities, to co-organise the Smarter Together workshop and invite all four Bulgarian cities to share plans, experience and expectations. Energy Cities and EUROCITIES are facilitating the workshop and coordinating discussions related to replication and scaling-up strategies.

Sofia is a partner in the Smarter Together, the project seeks to enhance the knowledge base and know-how of fields such as data management, eco-refurbishment and e-mobility through large-scale demonstration activities, user-centric innovation and sustainable smart city business models.
Burgas is a ‘fellow’ city in Sharing Cities, the project aims to transform the ways through which digital technologies are utilised in urban spaces. The central vision is to create smart cities which are more agile, encourage collaboration and actively engage with citizens to implement smart solutions across European cities.
Asenovgrad is in SmartEnCity, the project’s leading objective is creating a systematic approach which is both highly adaptable and replicable with a view to implementing urban transition measures which result in European cities being sustainable, smart and resource-efficient places.
Varna is in mySMARTLife, the project supports the transformation of EU cities through proposing an Urban Transformation Strategy based on the smart people and smart economy pillars.

This workshop will see partners involved in the various projects come together and present details on their current work, hold discussions and enhance the linkages between the various programmes. It’s a prime example as to how coming together and collaborating with various programmes can create a myriad of benefits to all stakeholders. Topics ranging from Sustainable Urban Mobility, Sustainable Energy Action Plans and citizen engagement will all be covered during this two-day event.
