Europe’s cities are invited to come to Lisbon on 13-14 September 2018 for the 2018 edition of the URBACT City Festival. Registrations extended for new cities until 15 July.
URBACT, official partner of the EUROCITIES campaign 'Cities4Europe - Europe for citizens', helps cities develop pragmatic local solutions to the global challenges of sustainability, integration and resilience. Its flagship annual festival celebrates cities as forces for change and is open to all EU cities, whether or not they have taken part in an URBACT network.
The URBACT City Festival is a great way to meet like-minded cities, hear more about URBACT and learn from the experience and knowledge gained by those involved in its networks. You can create your own festival path, choosing from sessions including workshops, labs, a marketplace and breakout sessions.
The main content of this year's festival has been generated by the 200+ cities that have worked together on issues covering a range of sustainable urban development themes over the past two and a half years in URBACT Action Planning Networks. It will be a unique opportunity to network, be inspired by those at the forefront of new ideas and practices, and take part in over 50 interactive sessions.
The URBACT programme will also share outputs and messages from different networks on key themes, which include
* integrated and participative urban development
* innovative urban planning
* re-making the city
* gender-equal cities
* digital cities
* integration of migrants, and
* cities of the future.
If you're interested in getting involved with URBACT in the future, you might like to note that the next URBACT call will be published in January 2019, providing new opportunities for cities to join one of URBACT's transnational exchange networks on a theme of your choice.
